Welcome to Redesign Malaysia: For Better Broadband, For the Rakyat. - Internet, Broadband, Malaysia, WiFi, Wireless, WiMax, Streamyx, Jaring and more…

This website is an initiative to improve Malaysia’s broadband facilities. It contains a broadband coverage map, articles on Malaysia broadband, comparisions of internet service providers and feature articles.

Redesign Malaysia is an initiative to improve Malaysia's broadband internet penetration, quality and reliability. We aim to achieve this through the compilation of relevant news articles, allowing users to have a voice, enlightening consumers on the options that are available, providing comparative statistics on ISPs, as well as the production of special features and commentary.

It is designed to be a community effort, to utilize information and feedback from broadband users and potential customers across Malaysia. We also aim to gain cooperation from the various broadband players in Malaysia, as well as support from government agencies and regulators.

Currently, we are focused on the Klang Valley, however in time we aim to expand this initiative nationwide. Let's all collaborate - to make fast, cheap and efficient broadband available throughout Malaysia.

Sponsorship

Sponsor Us
Being self-funded, we have our constraints, and the following items would help us to deliver a better, more complete website. We welcome individual and corporate sponsors (provided their sponsorship does not conflict with our interests of improving Malaysia’s broadband facilities). The following are items which would be useful to our puposes.

Media & Awareness
Blog About Us! No matter how little or how many hits your blog gets, linking us up would ensure that at least 1 more person hears about RedesignMalaysia.com

Printing and printable material supplies
Eventually, we aim to distribute RedesignMalaysia pamphlets, t-shirts, stickers, namecards, etc to further spread awareness about the website and the intiative to improve broadband in Malaysia.

Media Sponsorship
Do you own, or work in a media publication or broadcast entity? Whether it’s a magazine, newspaper, radio station or television station, you can help our cause by giving us free/discounted advertising space or a feature on RedesignMalaysia.com.

Another way would be to contribute funds for us to buy advertising space in large mainstream media (eg, a full page advertisement in The Star). A large amount from a single individual is not actually needed – an interesting example would be one of the activities of the Spread Firefox campaign where they utilized small donations from thousands of users, to place a two page ad in the New York Times.
Your Time
You can volunteer your time and help out on RedesignMalaysia.com, whether its from your home or in our office. Contact us for more details on how you can contribute your time.

Broadband accounts, 3G Data Cards, Network facilities
Ideally, we also envision that our working office should be subscribed to every broadband service there is, for the first reason being that a reliable internet connection would definitely expedite our work, secondly, we get to test broadband from different service providers and assess their speed and reliability.

Cash & Finances
Maintaining RedesignMalaysia takes a significant toll financially – there is the annual cost of the domain name, web hosting and also the monthly cost of web optimization, content updates, and maintenance. It is maintained by actual humans, some of whom are volunteers and some who are paid staff on a basic wage. Your financial contribution would help us to take the site further, and also let us worry less about money, and more about how we can make RedesignMalaysia.com work even better.

Computer Hardware (data storage, monitors, CPUs, RAM)
Powerful computers are needed to process large chunks of data such as maps, and dual-screen monitors help improve productivity. Improving the tools we work with will help improve the website further.

Mapping data & demographics
Detailed maps and data are usually only available for a significant fee (eg, a license to use a detailed map of the Klang Valley would cost you more than the price of a Perodua Kelisa). Eventually we aim to populate the map on RedesignMalaysia.com with additional details such as street names, building landmarks, demographics, psychographics. Depending on the details we can get, we can use the map to further improve other things about Malaysia (eg, report potholes and broken facilities).
