Welcome to Redesign Malaysia: For Better Broadband, For the Rakyat. - Internet, Broadband, Malaysia, WiFi, Wireless, WiMax, Streamyx, Jaring and more…

This website is an initiative to improve Malaysia’s broadband facilities. It contains a broadband coverage map, articles on Malaysia broadband, comparisions of internet service providers and feature articles.

Redesign Malaysia is an initiative to improve Malaysia's broadband internet penetration, quality and reliability. We aim to achieve this through the compilation of relevant news articles, allowing users to have a voice, enlightening consumers on the options that are available, providing comparative statistics on ISPs, as well as the production of special features and commentary.

It is designed to be a community effort, to utilize information and feedback from broadband users and potential customers across Malaysia. We also aim to gain cooperation from the various broadband players in Malaysia, as well as support from government agencies and regulators.

Currently, we are focused on the Klang Valley, however in time we aim to expand this initiative nationwide. Let's all collaborate - to make fast, cheap and efficient broadband available throughout Malaysia.

We’ve updated the coverage map to include coverage for Celcom 3G and Maxis 3G. Click on the respective tab to turn it on. Looking forward to your comments on service performance and which area you’re in (eg - is the service satisfactory in the places covered, are there coverage areas missing, etc) - remember, this is in the context of internet connectivity via 3G Card to a laptop/PC, not through a 3G phone.

Since we only cover Klang Valley at the moment, this is worth a note: In terms of overall coverage, Maxis has wider urban coverage (Klang Valley), however, Celcom has wider nationwide coverage across Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak). You can verify this by looking at the full coverage areas at their respective sites : Celcom 3G and Maxis 3G.

On an irrelevant note, now that we’ve got more colors…turning on all the coverage areas has a rather artistic “modern art” feel to it. Try it for yourself…

There was a Celcom 3G vs Maxis 3G roadtest recently by Mobile World Magazine. The roadtest covered Klang Valley with results on
speed and coverage. Results? Celcom won hands-down!
Coverage: Celcom won 14 to Maxis’ 1 on locations
Av. download: Celcom-330.8Kbps Maxis-155Kbps
Av upload: Celcom-55.2Kbps Maxis-45.1Kbps
If you want to see the full results, you can get yourself a copy of Mobile World Magazine (Dec 06 issue) or check my friend’s uploaded scan copy at http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r92/work_liao/celcom_3g_b eat_maxis_3g.gif

I went and read the article in photobucket. Not bad for Celcom! Maxis has really got to do something about their coverage - one of the location is just next to Menara Maxis, and there’s no cover? Than you, Angela, for the post.

celcom3g might be better than maxis, but its still sucks! it cannot be considered as “BROADBAND” at all, the speed just like tweaked 56k modem. duh, waste of money, better ask TM to build WiMAX infrastructure nationwide, 3g just means for mobile phone, not computer. waste of money. and BTW, the celcom website also has problem, they management is so lazy and lame, even when i call 1111 to check my account, the operator said “we cannot view your account for the time being because its in process”.. duh, are u guys doing it manually??? i hope both maxis and digi will get rid of baka-celcom monopoly in this country. yeah, widest coverage, but lame management!

for infomation celcom have capacity 5gb per month who has exceed this capacity of use.. the speed will be cut for 20-60 percen of total speed, but maxis is worst only 3gb per month…
